First Alaskans Institute
First Alaskans Institute is an Alaska Native advocacy nonprofit focused on the protection and advancement of Alaska Native peoples throughout time. They are a diverse community of over 200 Alaskan Native tribes with a dynamic scope of work, dedicated to embodying the strength and knowledge of their people, values, and cultures in all their efforts for and with the community. Their focus is on recognizing the enduring knowledge of Alaska within Alaska Native languages and ways of life.
Goal
First Alaskans Institute aimed to develop a fresh organizational website embodying:
- Reflection of and service to the First Alaskans Institute community
- Celebration of Alaskan Native worldviews, values, and cultural traditions
- Creation of an environment reminiscent of Alaskan Native spaces, characterized by organic and natural forms and textures
- Accessibility, intuitiveness, and ease of navigation, especially for elders
- Compatibility with slower internet connections
